hands down the best concert i've ever been to.

i have just found out something amazinggg. the legend herself, Erykah Badu is pregnant! Yesss! i reapeat...PREGNANT! i realize she has kids already [Seven, from Outkast member, Andre 3000 and Puma Rose, from rapper The D.O.C.] but i just excited when people with such greatness have kids and pass their gifts on. the father of Erykah's third child is her producer and her man Jay Electronica. 

shit, basically i cant wait until the name of the kid is decided! Seven.. Puma Rose.. Adidas..Nike..Eighteen.. lol we'll see. the fact that its Erykah Badu's kid basically mean this kid is going to have an outrageous name and be a musical genius. personally, i cant wait.

a pleasant surprise.

so, im driving in shitty ass DC traffic and i hear this song right & i swear to you i literally STOPPED my car in the middle of the street. all these drivers started honking and flashing their lights at me, but i honestly didn't give a fuck. the song had a soulful sound over a reggae beat and in my mind both of these things only come from one artist. the queen herself, ms. LAURYN HILL.

-let me give you a quick understanding of my love for this woman. lauryn hill is the shit in my book. it honestly doesn't get much better for me. she optizmies everything i love in music. a distinct voice, true words, original beats- basically an artist that makes music that feeds your soul & ms. lauryn hill does just that for me-

so, here i am pretty much going crazy because i'm thinking that my all time favorite artist has a new song out. a thousand things are running through my head at this point. What's the song called? When did it come out? Is she going on concert anytime soon? How am i going to pay for the concert to see her? I need to get front row. God, i love this woman. ext ext. eventually the song ends, and i hear the dj shoutout Jazmine Sullivan. and im thinking..who the fuck is Jazmine Sullivan?? come to find out.. she is the singer of this amazing record. in my opinion, it is uncanny the similarity between these two artists. im not going to say im not disappointed that lauryn hill turned out not to be the singer of this song..but im all for new artists, so i decided to give Jazmine Sullivan a chance.

i went home and started to work on my research about this new artist. turns out, this "new" artist isn't as new as i had originally thought. homegirl has been around for awhile, but this song featuring Missy Elliot, really got her on her way. and to my disbelief..babygirl is only twenty-one years old and shes from.. yes drumroll please.. PHILLY. hahaha figures. i dug a little deeper and listened to some more of her songs. this girl is a breath of fresh air. a few more of her songs that i also fell in love with are Hooked On You, Season To Love, and Pressure. i was a little worried that the rest of her songs wouldnt be as good because they would be just her and no other artist. needless to say, she proved me wrong. she makes amazing music, even without having to collaborate with a well-known artist.. unlike some of the artists out here. oops! did i type that outloud? oh well ;D. this talented singer's new record is playing on my blog, just for your listening pleasure. basically everyone needs to listen to some of Jazmine Sullivan's music and let it feed your soul. i let her music in.. and im not going to be hungry for awhile.
