i still feel a sense of freedom.

i love dreads.
i love reggae.
i love white people
with dreads.
all of these things
=
SOJA.
Soldiers of Jah Army

these guys leave me speechless.
the first time i heard them play
was at the Roots, Rock, and Reggae Concert
on July 27th.

its sad
a lot of people probably
wouldn't give these guys the time of day
just because..
they.are.a.white.reggae.group.

:/

all i have to say to that is..
when you close your eyes
and listen to their music,
you don't see color
you just feel their soul coming through their music.
point.blank.period.

check this group out,
i mean not only because they are from..
yes, VIRGINIA.
but because, they will feed your soul.
guaranteed.

their song, Open My Eyes,
is playing on my page
for your listening pleasure.

i'll holla.

i dare you.

sometimes i feel like i am an old woman at heart. lol. i don't even think that is how i wanted to start off this post, but its 2 something in the morning and that's how its going to be. but yeah, i am pretty much a fifty something year old woman deep down. i say this because i find myself being different than a lot of these other females out here.

a big reason why i say this is my taste in music. i find myself listening to songs that my mom likes. HAHAHAHA. maybe its because my mom is like that and she has a good ear, or if music is just disappointing lately.

[do me a favor. open up your itunes real quick and put it on shuffle. listen to the first five songs that come on. if majority of the songs that come on talk about ass, titties, hoes, money, weed, or "getting out the hood", then there is a serious problem.]

the first five songs that come on my itunes when i put it on shuffle are:
1. A Rose is a Rose- Aretha Franklin ft. Lauryn Hill
2. Didn't Cha Know- Erykah Badu
3. Secret- Maroon 5
4. Every Little Bit Hurts- Alicia Keys
5. Gravity- John Mayer

now, don't me wrong, i'm not trying to dog anyone's game. i'm not that kind of person. on some real shit, i have and know a good amount of the new songs out today..but isn't it such a breath of fresh air when you hear a song that "feeds your soul", as i always like to say. maybe its just me, but i know that personally i don't like listening to hype music all the time. i got to have some Lauryn, Bob, Erykah, Alicia, John, Musiq, Common, ext. in my system. still having a hard time seeing where i'm coming from? watch&listen to this. i dare you to tell me these videos didn't hit the spot. i dare you.

hate to say it..but i told you so.

i'll holla.
